OUTSIDE EVERYTHING IS FINE AND CLEAR - TIM BAILEY AND SURFIE
This painting was my first attempt at entering the annual Archibal Prize. I approached Tim Bailey to see if he was interested in sitting for me. Wholeheartedly he agreed.
I wanted to capture his quirky, cheeky and quintessential personality people have come to know and love from his TV appearance on Channel Ten. In this piece I also wanted to present a dressed down, casual version of Tim, the side most people don’t get to see.
An inclusion into the piece was Tim’s Cavoodle named Surfie. A little ball of energy, just like its owner, who I met whilst taking the initial composition photos.
Once the piece was finished Tim had the painting and I on Channel Ten News during his live weather segment.
Although I wasn’t a finalist, it was an absolutely great experience.
